Because valves and safety valves can be substantial unwanted noise when controlling industrial processes SILEO offers a complete range of diffusers and silencers to provide optimum noise attenuation.




“ SHOCK-LESS ” is a pressure reducing device that is installed downstream from the depressuring system and which allows :
  • To locate and to steady shock waves generated by the critical sonic gas velocity.

  • To control flow rate and to ajust together the valve upstream and the valve downstream condition as an electrical impedance transformer.

  • To control the pressure reduction step by step such as the fluid would be allowed to expand gradually.

“ SHOCK-LESS ” design is based on SILEO thorough research and field-testing experience with the main world-wide valve manufacturers.
  • Decrease the sound power level by flow division in small jet streams.

  • Modify the generated spectrum toward high frequencies for easier sound reduction by wall pipe and acoustic packing.

  • Control the jet stream reconvergence.

  • Control local velocity and rapid expansion.





SILEO “ SHOCK-LESS ” diffusors are used to reduce control valve noise. The total pressure drop of the system is divided in several stages across the valve and the diffusor. This allows to have a better pressure ratio between upstream and downstream and greatly reduce depressuring noise level of the valve and the pipe.
With our developed computer assisted custom design we predict required noise reduction, then optimize the pipe and diffusor configuration to give the right acoustical guarantee.

Vent and blow-off silencers are designed to eliminate excessive noise created by the discharge of high-pressure gases and steam into the atmosphere.


  • VD type Silencers :
    Silencers with multistage "SHOCK-LESS" diffuser only.
    No absorbing material used.
    Compact and light solution.
    Attenuation up to 30 dBA.


  • VDA type Silencers :
    Silencers with " SHOCK-LESS" diffuser and absorbing packed section.
    Attenuation up to 60 dBA


SILEO have developed a computer unsilenced noise calculation in order to offer the right silencer for an acoustical guarantee. Our capability to analyse pressure drop distribution across piping systems permit to properly design the silencer to achieve the desired effects at minimal cost.

Inline silencers are designed to eliminate fluid-borne noise produced by control valves and regulators and radiated by the pipe work system, either upstream or downstream.


Each SILEO line silencer is designed for the pressure drop requirement :
  • High pressure drop : “ SHOCK-LESS “ diffuser with absorbing packed section.

  • Low pressure drop : only absorbing packed section.
